Working girl.

Caroline: "I work Mommy." Holding one of her Daddy's t-shirts.

Mommy: "What? You can't go to work. Daddy has already left and I don't know where he is. You can't go by yourself."

Caroline: "Shirt ON Mommy!"

I put Daddy's t-shirt on her over her silky pink night gown.

Caroline: "Pen Mommy."

Mommy: "What? What do you need a pen for?"

Caroline: "WORK MOMMY! BLACK PEN!"

I hand the little turkey nugget her black pen she requested.

She sits down and puts on her Daddy's work boots... with no socks may I add. Yum-O!

She stands up, puts the black pen in her front pocket and walks to the door.

Caroline: "Bye Mommy! I work!"

Here is the proof. The proof that my two-year-old wants to go to work... in a yellow shirt over her PJ's, stinky work boots with no socks, and a black pen in her front pocket.

I wish I could make this stuff up. I learn each and every day that kids do and say the funniest things.

PS- Caroline is still on the kick of not looking at the camera and closing her eyes when I insist she look at me. Whatever. She's still cute.

Our little riblet.

I mentioned in a post yesterday that Caroline ate ribs with us Saturday night.

Ryan has learned how to perfectly smoke ribs.

He makes the best homemade rub for them.

Even a two-year-old can't resist.

Here are our favorite pictures of Caroline eating.

Caroline had to have a big girl cup.

This is the saddest picture. She just couldn't eat anymore... they were getting too hot for her mouth. "HOT MOMMY!" "HOT DADDY!" Therefore, she enjoyed a big bowl of strawberry ice cream but she really wanted ribs.

Such a cutie!

BOOKZILLA Tuesday.

This has been Caroline's choice of book every night for the past two weeks.

Ten Little Ladybugs by Melanie Gerth.

At the end, Caroline insists that we EAT the plastic little ladybugs that are in the book. We sit in the bed for a good amount of time eating pretend ladybugs. Fun times.

Not me! Monday

MckMama has started a new Monday event. It is called Not Me! Monday. Go on over to website and check out how you can participate.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday: I did not pretend to have washed some of Ryan's clothes. I actually just threw them into the dryer with a smell good dryer sheet, fluffed them up, and folded them. He never knew because they weren't dirty in the beginning. I am NOT going to wash clothes that are clean.

Friday: I did not lie to myself about already having a bowl of cereal. I definitely did not eat another breakfast with Caroline when she woke up.

Saturday afternoon: I did not secretly eat a Snickers bar without anyone ever even finding out I had bought it. I did not hide it from my hubs or my child so that I could eat it alone... in peace.

Saturday night: I did not let Caroline eat a rib off of the kitchen floor. She dropped it and my response was not "God made dirt... dirt won't hurt." My hubs did not look at me strangely either.

Sunday: I did not unbutton my jeans and forget to button them back up before walking into Target.

Monday: I did not put off cleaning my house to blog and read other blogs.

Monday: I did not jump up when the hubs came home for lunch and pretend to be cleaning.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks MckMama for the therapy. Wait till you see my list next week. The list begins NOW!

Letter to Caroline.... Month 26

~*I started this post yesterday, Caroline's actual 26 month "birthday." However, I was lazy and finished it today.*~

Sweet Caroline,

You are 26 months old today. 26 months... WOW! I can't believe it. Time sure does fly.

So many things have happened this month that have made me a proud Mommy. I think that making a list is the easiest way to keep my thoughts together. Here I go...

Cookies are your thing. You eat the cream out of the Oreos and you give me the chocolate cookie part. Never in a million years would I have imagined myself eating a soaking wet cookie and enjoying every bite. If someone had asked me to do this 26 months ago... I would have looked at them like they were crazy. I never understood how people ate after children until I had you. Soaking wet cookies and chips don't bother Mommy anymore. However, your Daddy is a WAY cooler person than me. He actually drinks after you... backwash and all. I love you more than you will ever know my little turkey nugget but drink after you I will not.

Something funny happened this month. Something that made me realize how simple things in life are the best. You were bouncing down the stairs one day holding my hand... you turned to me and said OTAY MOMMY! My heart melted. I dreamed that one day I would have a beautiful daughter JUST LIKE YOU that would say those exact words to me. I can't answer why I dreamed of this... I just did. You have fulfilled many of my dreams... this just added to the list.

Your sweet kisses turned into licks this month. Yes, you lick faces like a dog on crack. "Lick Mommy" you say. One night you just stood beside your Daddy and licked his hand a few times. When I asked you to kiss baby sister last night, you licked my tummy. Maybe this is just a stage you are going through. We have our fingers crossed that it ends soon.

You have fallen in love with babies. There is one baby you carry everywhere. At times I find you sitting in your rocking chair, holding Baby, whispering to her. We don't know what you are saying but you seem to truly love her. You are aggressive at times but you have a soft side that loves to take care of people. We have really noticed that soft side this month. We are hoping we will see more of it since Baby Sister will be here soon.

You fell and scraped your knee at Nana's house one Sunday. It was not a big booboo. You just scratched both of your knees. On the day it happened, you had to have your Daddy and Jay hold your hands to walk out of the house. You limped for the rest of the day. I found out that your anxiety over band-aids is as strong as ever. Band-aids cause you to have a mini stroke that leads to lots of screams and hyperventilation. We talked about these two booboos for 2 weeks. They have now disappeared but you still bring them up before we get into the bath tub. I have to assure you that your booboo is alright and that the bath water is not going to hurt it.

We started an at-home preschool program together. We have had a blast the past few weeks. You have learned a lot. I am also amazed at how quickly you learn. You are like Daddy. You hear something one time and you remember it forever. You can now pretend to be a cow, monkey, snake and cat.

Your imagination is running wild. You love building houses out of blankets and sheets. You then pretend something strange is after you. You told me one morning in our "house" that there was a "boat get Naroline." We kicked it and it left us alone. You also enjoy cooking hot dogs for your guests in your "house" that Mommy built for you in your room. You even serve your hot dogs with ketchup and mustard. I've taught you well. Hopefully you are pretending to eat Jesse Jones hotdogs then I will know for sure that I have taught you well. (Yes... Jesse Jones are my favorite hotdog. And yes... I feed you hotdogs. This day in age, most moms would never dream of feeding their children such a thing. Call me a bad mom.)

If I could have placed an order for my first born with God, I couldn't have placed a better order than you. You are exactly what I have always dreamed of. There are times I want to pull my hair out. There are times I want to lock myself in the bathroom to get away for two minutes. Then there are those times you look at me with those big green eyes and you say "OTAY MOMMY!" You are as close to perfect as perfect can be. Thank you for being everything you are. Thank you for the best 26 months of my life. I love you.

No name Lafone.

Still no name for Baby Girl Lafone.

Therefore, I did MORE internet searching.

Meet The Baby Name Genie.

Here is where you... my readers... come in.

Go to the link above.

You will be asked for Baby's last name. Enter "Lafone"

You will be asked for Baby's gender. Enter "Gil"

Then click "Wish."

Leave me a comment and let me know what name the Genie told you.

Maybe the Genie will give you a name that we just fall in love with.

I know this sounds crazy... but we need help with picking this baby name.

We can't agree on anything.

P.S.- I am only admitting this to you... on this blog... because hubby doesn't read this blog... I kept hitting wish when I found the site... the third name I got was FIONA! WHAT?? Shhh! We can't let Ryan know. He may think it is a sign or something that we are suppose to name Baby Girl Fiona. I DON'T THINK SO!

There she goes again.

This is how I found Caroline yesterday.

I grabbed the camera... took pictures... then told her not to get in Baby Sister's chair. (I know... she was excited to have her picture made... then I mess with her head by telling her not to do something. The things we do for the sake of a blog post.)

I told her she was a big girl and that the chair was for babies.

She decide to switch places with her baby doll. She let her baby sit in the seat while she rocked it and showed it the fish.

Fast forward 30 minutes.

I am in the kitchen.

I hear a crack.

I walk into the living room to find Caroline... in the chair... and the chair is broken.

Let's add a bouncer to our list of things to get before the baby arrives.

Only 9 more weeks left for Caroline to break the rest of the stuff.

Our morning.

Had an appointment at 9:15.

Woke up late.

Ate breakfast instead of putting on makeup.

What? I'm pregnant. I have to eat breakfast.

Woke Caroline up at 8:30.

Was out of the house (by a miracle) by 8:45.

Had to make a 20 minute drive... in 10.

Didn't happen. Knew it wouldn't.

Didn't expect what was about to come though.

Made 5 minutes of the drive... Caroline decided to barf in her carseat... all over herself.

Turned around... drove back home.

Cleaned her and the carseat.

Left the house at 9 in a car that smelled like sour vomit and lots of Glade air freshener (thanks to the hubs... he may have sprayed half the can).

Great.

Made it back to the spot where we had the throw-up scene... it begins to pour down rain.

If you know me, you know I can't drive and driving in the rain makes me want to have massive anxiety attacks.

Speed limit was 55... I was going 40.

FINALLY made it to my appointment at 9:30... 15 minutes late... and 3 anxiety attacks later.

Fun morning.

Looking back on the morning most of you will say that I should have just stayed in bed.

What made me get up you ask?

The fact that my wildchild ASKED to go to HER bed last night and watch Belle.

We did. She fell asleep... in her bed.

She slept all night... in her bed.

I had to wake her up this morning... in her bed.

That is sooooo worth a hell of a morning.

I'd do it all over again if it would insure that Caroline would sleep in her bed AGAIN tonight. We shall see. She is napping in it right now. YAHHHH CAROLINE!

~*Yes, I took pictures of her sleeping in her bed this morning. Occasions like that need to be documented.*~

Preschool Week 2

I totally forgot to tell you about Caroline's second week of at-home preschool.

I haven't taken any pictures either so I will just share with you in words.

What Caroline Learned Last Week

Theme- Jungle Animals
This wasn't the easiest theme.
I decided that I like when the theme is just one basic animal or object.
It makes it easier to stay on task.

Letter- B
Her favorite thing to do during letter time is shaving cream.
I put a little on the table and we draw our letter in the shaving cream.
She absolutely loves it!

Number- 2
This was easy for her.
Being that she is two... she already kind of knew the number two.

Color- Green
Caroline wasn't fond of the fact that she could only color with one crayon, colored pencil, or marker on the day we discussed the color green.
It turned into a fight between us.
She won.
She colored one object green and the rest pink.
Whatever.
She knows the color green.
I asked her for a green gummy bear tonight... she gave it to me.
What can I say?
My kid is smart... and she likes to color with more than one color.

Nursery Rhyme- I Had a Little Nut Tree
I had a little nut tree, nothing would it bear,
But a silver nutmeg and a golden pear;
The King of Spain's daughter came to visit me,
And all for the sake of my little nut tree.

I would recite this everyday.
Caroline could care less about this nursery rhyme and to be honest... I had never heard of it.
She did enjoy coloring a tree to go with it though.
Do you think the top of it was green?
Oh no!
I tried to get her to use the green.
She wanted red.
She won.
Whatever.

That was our week.
This week will begin today.
We didn't start yesterday. It was a bad day. Caroline slept for 30 minutes. Count them... 30 big ones. Be jealous. You wish your kid slept as well as mine.
Anyway...
Our theme... kittens.
This is going to be fun.

BOOKZILLA Tuesday.

I'm sticking to my choice of author from last week.

This week's book for BOOKZILLA Tuesday is The Three Pigs by David Wiesner.

This is a way.too.cute. book about the classic tale of the three little pigs. However, Wiesner puts his own twist on the story. Each character escapes the actual story and sets out on adventures of their own.

It is very creative. I enjoy it as much as Caroline.

Check it out!

How many licks?

Caroline has the sweetest kisses.

Lately, kisses have turned into licks.

Yes, you heard me... LICKS.

Caroline likes to lick now.

Last night she just stood beside Ryan licking his hand... like a dog.

It's strange.

Instead of kissing me, she will lick the side of my face.

I think I'm going to get her this shirt.

We have decided that we have one crazy child.

Caroline and Daddy
They look just alike.

The Big going down the BIG slide.

This was the only thing Caroline would ride at a festival that was in our town.

$8.00 and 3 slides later we were done.

It was 500,000 degrees outside.

Caroline was over it.

I was over it.

Then on the way out she had to have an icee... which lead to her poking her straw through the cup... which caused major leakage of a red juice on her cute WHITE shirt.

Fun times.

My big surprise.

My Mom bought me the best gift ever!

"I've got a surprise for you."

"For me?" I asked.

"Yep! And you are going to love it!"

What in the world has she bought??

Here was my surprise!

My Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Bag!!!

I have sooo been wanting a Petunia Pickle Bottom bag since I was preggers with Caroline.

Isn't it adorable?

Go to the website and check out all the cool features it has.

My favorite is the Petunia Pickle Bottom wipe case and the built in changing station.

Way.Too.Cool!!

YAHHH ME!

I also bought these shoes at Old Navy a few days ago for "Two".

I'll share them with you too while I'm sharing new items.

Too cute!

Maybe I did take my child to the grocery store yesterday with her hair looking like this.

So what if I did?

Today's ramblings.

I am going to ramble today.

Here I go.
--------------------------------

Caroline decided she wanted her fingernails painted.
I painted them.
Then during preschool time... she decided to paint them again... herself... with a red marker.
Fabulous!
--------------------------------

I tore her nerves out of the frame afterwards by vacuuming.
She hates the vacuum.
It has become my new favorite thing to do... now that I have my best friend's Dyson in my possession.
Be jealous.
--------------------------------

This is what Caroline did while I spent a good portion of the morning vacuuming.
Laying in the chair... eating chips... yelling at me.
--------------------------------

Pepsi products were buy one, get one free at the store.
I went.
Everyone else in my town obviously decided it was in there best interest to go too.
There was hardly anything left.
I did however manage to get a Sierra Mist and Caffeine Free Pepsi.
Yum-O!
--------------------------------

The check out girl made me mad.
"I didn't know you were pregnant" she said.
Ok, do I know you? I thought to myself.
I may go through your line every once in a while but I don't know you.
I responded with a "No. I've just gained lots of weight."
She snickered.
I smiled.
"Yes. I am pregnant. 30 weeks." I smiled again.
She came back with a "Well, I could tell your face had gotten fluffy."
What?
Don't even get me started.
"Fluffy"??
--------------------------------

Nap time was hell today.
2 hours...
That is how long it took me to get Caroline to sleep.
I was crying and so was she by the time we hit the one hour mark.
--------------------------------

I think I am going to throw all the markers in the house away.
Caroline drew all over one of her Rainbow flip flops that she has never worn.
--------------------------------

I've only had one peanut butter sandwich today.
That is really good for me. I have recently had an average of two a day.
Sad I know.
Have I told you that peanut butter is my addiction during pregnancy?
--------------------------------

Still haven't thought of a name for "Two Lafone".
Looks like her name may really be Two.
I'm trying not to let it stress me out.
But I'm stressing.
We need help.
--------------------------------

Ok... I'm done for now.
Have a fabulous Thursday.

Last nights bedtime conversation.

We were laying in bed last night.

Ryan was out cold. He was exhausted so he heard none of this.

Caroline: "Mommy mean."

Me: "Why? You are going to make Mommy cry."

Caroline: "Mommy mean."

Me: "Caroline, Mommy is NOT mean."

Caroline: "Mommy mean."

Me: "Well, do you love Mommy?"

Caroline: Inserts finger into her nose. "NO."

Don't conversations like this make your heart swell with happiness?

This morning I felt better about it.

She woke up, touched my face, and said "Hey Mommy!"

I said hey back.

She hopped off of the bed and walked out of the door.

"Bye Mommy!" she said. "I love you!"

My heart truly did swell with happiness then.

Today's appointment.

Went to the doctor today.

I waited for about 45 minutes.

I saw the doctor for 5.

Everything is wonderful.

Baby girl Lafone is happy and healthy.

I found out that I passed my glucose screening.

I failed it with Caroline and had to do the 3-hour screening (it was TERRIBLE!)

I was excited that I don't have to go through that again.

Anyway, I'm 30 weeks measuring 29 cm.

YAHH me!

Only 10 weeks to go!

Bookzilla Tuesday

Today's book...

Armadillo Rodeo by Jan Brett

This mornings preschool time.

Our theme is jungle animals.

This should be an easy week since Caroline herself IS a jungle animal.

As she colored a picture of a jungle princess... I unloaded the dishwasher.

I looked and this is what I found.

I guess when I told her to color a jungle princess... she took me literally.

To top it off... I picked her up out of her seat to take her to wash off and felt something in her big girl pants.

MARKERS!

Yes... the little sneak had stuffed two markers in her underwear.

She was saving them for later I guess.

And just think... it is only 10 am.

I have a WHOLE day ahead!

You can't help but laugh.

On this day 25 years ago, my husband was born.

25 years.

He is one-quarter of a century old.

That makes him sound old doesn't it?

Caroline has been practicing the Happy Birthday song for weeks now.

She was well prepared to sing Happy Birthday Daddy... 1,000 times today.

I have to admit that it was extremely cute and her Daddy was very proud.

We decorated the kitchen with balloons and streamers.

Blue and green are Daddy's favorite colors so those are the colors we used.

However, Caroline insisted on getting a yellow balloon AND a pink balloon.

So in a sea of blue and green, Daddy had one yellow balloon and one pink balloon.

He seemed to like it though.

We also made mini cheesecakes.

I was a slacker and made the no-bake cheesecake.

However, it was YUM-O and everyone has seemed to enjoy them.

We also took Daddy to a restaurant he has been wanting to try.

Justin and Jordan went with us.

We had a great time and the food was excellent.

Overall, I think Ryan had a great day.

I know we have said it a million times today but I want to say it just one more... Happy Birthday! We love you!

How I get through the day.

It is just me and Caroline at home... all day.

The husband will make a guest appearance every now and again for a sandwich and some love from Caroline.

How do I do it?

I don't really know yet.

I have decided that it is much easier to get her OUT of the house.

We go to the swings across the street.

We go to the library.

However, there is not much else to do in this small town with a toddler.

So, I decided Caroline still needed some structured "preschool" time.

Let's just say WOW!

Our first day was Tuesday.

How about an hour and a half, felt like 25 minutes.

I found a program online that I absolutely love.

It is a 26 week program that keeps children entertained. (Hopefully after Two Lafone comes I can keep it up).

We have a new theme each week.

We have a vocabulary word each week.

We have a new letter each week.

Every other week we learn a new shape.

On the opposite weeks we learn a new color.

We also have a nursery rhyme that we recite all week long.

It has been a blast so far and we are only on week one.

What Caroline Learned This Week

Theme: Cows
Caroline will tell you that the cow says MOOOO!

Vocabulary Word: Calf- a baby cow
Caroline wasn't into the vocabulary word. She never said it but we talked about it everyday.

Letter: A
Caroline will says "A Apple"

Shape: Square
She was most proud of her square that she colored this week. Each day we talked about the square and counted the sides together.

Nursery Rhyme: Hey Diddle, Diddle

Number: 1
We colored a number one, started a sticker counting book, and learned how to show one on our hand using our pointer finger (she knew, but we practiced it anyway)

Being that I love doing things like this with children, I found a lot of cow crafts online that Caroline and I did together. Look at this cute toilet paper roll cow.

One day I even caught Caroline and Daddy sitting at the table coloring cows. Daddy hung his cow on the refrigerator. :-)

Hopefully this will last. Caroline seems to enjoy it as much as I do. I will keep you updated on our progress.

Da-da work truck.

Caroline has been having a small problem lately.

Ryan has a new job.

At his new job, he drives a truck that belongs to the business he work for.

This work truck has been causing Caroline a lot of stress.

Ryan stopped by the house Tuesday to grab lunch.

Caroline and I were across the street at the church playground.

He stopped by to get some love from Caroline and say hey.

She was so overwhelmed.

Dada truck?

We explained that it was Daddy's work truck and he would have his truck back that afternoon.

Dada work truck?

Anyway... long story short... everyday when Daddy gets home she runs to the door.

She is looking for the work truck.

If it is here and his truck isn't... you can see the stress and fear fill her eyes.

We can't figure out why.

It just causes her stress.

We even have to discuss this every night before we go to bed. We have to discuss Daddy's work truck. The color, how Daddy's going to drive it tomorrow, how Daddy is going to come home tomorrow afternoon with his truck, how he is going to take the work truck back.

If she keeps it up, I am sure that pretty soon Daddy's work and work truck will become part of our night-night prayers.

Caroline- 9 months old- When her life was much less stressful due to the fact that Daddy only had ONE vehicle.

Last Sunday we went to visit Papa Brown.

Caroline was extremely excited.

She bounced down the stairs in her cute little outfit saying, "Pa-Pa Rown" with each step she took.

We had a great Sunday lunch when we got there.

We got to catch up with a lot of family we don't get to see very often.

While we were there, Caroline made a new friend.

His name is Downing (I hope I am spelling it right. I am spelling it like it sounds at least.)

He was born in June... making he and Caroline only a month apart.

While Ryan and I went to the mall for some much needed Mommy and Daddy time alone, the others took a trip to the park.

Caroline had a ball.

She and Downing even got to enjoy sno-cones afterwards.

Yumm-O!

Who do you think made the biggest mess? Caroline? Downing?

I think Downing agrees he made the bigger mess. :-)
