ears and bugs don't mix

A few weeks ago... well, October 8th to be exact... I thought I was going to die.

I mean not literally but what happened to me was terrible.

We were getting ready for a party at my mom's house. We were setting up hay bales, tables, fire pits, and all kinds of other fun stuff out in mom's backyard.

I sat down for a minute to talk to Mom and Nana.

That's when it happened. A freaking bug flew in my ear.

I had a massive anxiety attack. It was an awful feeling. I was also freaking out because I watch Untold Stories from the ER. I saw an episode where a june bug flew in a lady's ear. It was terrible.

Anyway, after pouring peroxide in my ear, using the bulb syringe, and blowing in my ear... the stupid bug came out.

It was just a teeny tiny gnat.

I would have sworn that there was a huge bug in there.

It was so loud... like a helicopter.

When it happens, it is almost a claustrophobic feeling. It is almost like you are in a tiny room and can't get out.

You have a bug in your ear, and you can't get it out.

Damn scaphoid ear deformity is to blame. I swear it is. My ear is like a freaking beacon.

sleep

The past two days have been hellish.

I'm exhausted.

Yes, I am complaining.

Fevers, vomit all over the backseat of my car, babysitting for friends (on top of my two children), taking pictures, editing pictures, somewhat cleaning the house...

it is no wonder that Ryan found us like this...

This picture is just further verification that I need a chin job along with 5 million other "jobs".

Camera, scissors, pen

I have decided that next time someone says... "Oh! Your camera takes such good pictures."

I'm going to say... "Thanks. Your mouth makes such good compliments."

That is like telling a hair dresser that their scissors cut good hair.

That is like telling a writer that their pen writes great poems.

Anyway... just thought I would vent. ;-)

Here are a few of my latest additions.

The first senior pictures I've done...

6 month olds are my favorite...

18 month olds are pretty darn cute too...

Thursday Randoms

1. The little mini coffee flavored Haagen-Dazs with the spoon inside... is my favorite. It makes me happy.

2. The ABC Kids Expo just finished up in Las Vegas. It is my dream to attend one of these days. Just look at a few of the newest baby items:
- A diaper that fits in the palm of your hand. Great for traveling I would assume.

- The new Britax Parkway SGL. Watch the video to see the cool new features. I love it! Caroline is going to have to have one.

3. We had an awesome party Saturday night for my uncle and his soon to be wife, Caitie. It was a great time.

4. Bunco was last Thursday. Fun times. I won nothing... of course. I really suck at that game. The wine is good though. Ha!

5. Caroline said "bitch hole" today. I'm wondering if she meant bitch whore. Gosh, I hope not. I would NEVER say such a thing.

6. We need family pictures. I am going to have to break down and just take them. I keep putting it off. I like being behind the camera... not in front of it. I always look like an idiot.

7. We have no plans this weekend. Well, I take that back. I have photo shoots but they don't count. Maybe we will have a date night. That would be so nice.

8. I am going to visit my sister tomorrow. I can't wait.

9. Emma has had two fabulous days at school this week. We are so proud of her.

10. I'm almost done with photo edits! Yay! One more family to go and I am done... until Saturday.

11. Have you made your Christmas list? Only 71 more days. I need ideas for Santa, people. HELP! I don't know what to tell him to bring!

12. My husband has been all nice lately. Weird. Therefore, I have been starting random fights for no reason just to keep things normal around here. I like to keep it real like that.

13. BIG STORY coming soon. It involves a bug. SOOOO not funny either. I almost died.

14. I can't sleep anymore. Is that normal?

15. I am looking for an amazing silver shoe. Do you know where I can find one?

Hope you all have an amazing weekend.

nutjob.

Caroline had the bright idea to tell my mom I had a baby in my belly.

Ummmm, no thank you.

** TOO MUCH INFORMATION AHEAD... My IUD is still in and yes, I feel periodically just to make sure.

"Boy or girl?" we asked.

"Boy," she said.

And his name?

Jerome.

Jerome Lafone.

Go ahead. Have a good chuckle.

Oh, the mind of a 4 year old.

Speech

Caroline went to her 4 year well baby visit last week.

Word to the wise... take backup to this appointment.

My BFF went with me and thank God.

It was awful!

Eye exam= battle

Hearing screen= battle

Finger prick followed by uncontrollable screams= WWIII

Tee tee in cup= did not happen. 4 year olds NEVER have to tee tee when they are suppose to. They only have to use the bathroom during meals and when you are in the bathroom.

We got to the room and waited for a little while.

Dr. came in and we discussed the normal things.

Then speech came up.

Yuck.

Caroline is extremely smart. She is well behaved (for the most part) and has a little anger management issue (hello, I have to admit... she gets that one honest). However, her speech makes me nervous.

We don't make a big deal out of it because we don't want her to become upset or self-conscience about it.

Recently she was playing with a friend. Caroline had the hardest time saying the friend's name... Spencer. The "sp" got her.

She tried, and tried, and tried. The poor baby could not say the name to save her life.

She has started covering her mouth when she can't get words out. She will also become very upset when she can't get a word out.

"I can't say it. I just want it to go away." Talk about break a mama's heart. Mine rips into a million pieces. I knew then that she needed help.

It is hard to admit to anyone that your child may have an issue of any kind. It is extremely hard to ask for help.

I did though. I just feel like Caroline is four and I would rather address the issue now instead of waiting until she is older. It will only become harder to address and fix as she gets older.

We are waiting for a therapist to call us for an evaluation.

I know I will feel much better once the evaluation is done. I feel like I will have answers. Right now, it is just kind of scary. The not knowing what is going on. The not knowing what is going to happen to make it better.

Caroline may not be able to say "Spencer" all of the time but she can say "shit". Score!

Hey, at least we know she can say the "sh" sound. ;-)

Have any of you been through this with your little ones?? I would love a little support through it all. Meredith Reese (you better be reading this) you better be my support too. ;-)

PS- The appointment ended with flu mist and 5... yes, FIVE... shots. Yes, I laughed as I held her down and she screamed. Maybe while Caroline is seeing a speech therapist, I need to go see a therapist to understand why I laugh.

Wordless Wednesday-- Big

I raise sailors

I felt like the best mother on the planet when this took place...

Caroline: "Damnit!"

Emma: "Mama, Big say Damnit!"

Now, I have two potty mouths on my hands.

Fabulous.

Wedding.

I did my first wedding shoot last Saturday.

It was amazing.

I had a great time.

I shot with another girl and we had a great time.

The bride, Anne, was so laid back and up for whatever.

Here are a few sneak peeks...

They also had the idea of a "photo booth". Guests were able to take pictures with fun props for the bride and groom to keep. So fun! Here are a few...

Thanks Anne and Drew for making me part of your special day!
