First DIY Pinterest Clothing Project

I have an ongoing addiction to pinterest.

I thought it would die out.

I can go days without pinning anything but if I ever find a free moment, I am a pinning maniac.

Recently I found this pin.

Easy peasy, yes?

I thought so too.

I set off on my first DIY clothing pinterest project.

No sewing required... that is just my speed.

I began with a plain white tee of Ryan's.

There is a stack of about 7800 Hanes white t-shirts in the closest.

I am sure he will not miss one.

That is until he reads this and then I am sure I will have used his most favorite white Hanes t-shirt ever.

Anyway, I took picture with the iPad as I did this.  They are not the best quality but they work.

Here is what I started with.

Next, I cut a semi-straight line right under the armpits of the shirt.

Gosh that is a wrinkled shirt.
Whatev.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Now, you cut strips in the bottom of the shirt.

I tried to keep them a pretty even width but it is not necessary.

Now pull each strip.

I also knotted the ends of every other one just to spice it up a little.

Throw it over your head and voilà...

Ignore my fizzy hair.

Tarheel Born

Tonight I am not doing my usual.

Normally I would be brushing up on my celeb gossip on Page Six and Perez Hilton.  Shameful as it may be, I love it.

I would also normally be drooling over week old pictures from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  Where, on where, is Anna Wintour?  That is the game I play.

Instead, tonight I am brushing up on my fight song skills.

I am attending my very first college football game tomorrow.

It sounds sad that I have never been to a college football game.

However, I have never lost any sleep over it.  Football is just not my thing.

Football is not my favorite.

However, when Carolina is involved... my husband is involved.

So, my oxford is neatly pressed.  My shorts are too.  I may even wear a headband.  It seems like the preppy college football thing to do.  I brushed up on my fight song and I feel like I am ready.

I am so excited about tomorrow.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Fashion with Bug

We went shopping Monday in Mebane.

These outlets are amazing.

We drive by them every time we go visit my BIL&SIL.

I don't know who had the most fun... Ryan or Bug.

This is one of the outfits Buggie picked out herself.

The leggings were in the Baby Gap section.

The shirt and shoes were in the Gap Kids section.

She is 3 and threw this outfit together.

Pretty good.

The bow doesn't match up but it is her favorite and she wears it with everything!

Rock on my little fashionista.  Rock on.

BusyBusyBusy

It's has been a big week for us.

- I have some sort of sinus stuff going on.  I am not feeling 100%.  Ugh.  So much for enjoying the changing of seasons.  By the way, who is loving this ENC weather??  High 50s at night, low 80s during the day.  I'll take it!

- Caroline started gymnastics tonight.  Boy, did she love it.  She learned how to do a back roll and is super stoked.  She catches onto things so easily.  I wish I was that way.  She gets it from her Daddy.  I can barely walk and talk at the same time.

- Bug is starting dance.  Yes, you read that right.  Dance.  I didn't pressure her either.  I just mentioned it and just jumped right on it.  She will be taking with a dance teacher that goes to her school every Monday for "movement".  We got all of her dance stuff today.  Tomorrow cannot get her fast enough in her eyes.

- Bug talked at school today.  It happened during an emergency but still... it happened.  Holler!  She had to tee-tee.  I mean like superbad tee-tee.  She couldn't hold it much longer.  She cried (break my heart).  She will NOT tee-tee at school.  I don't know how we are going to get past this.  Did I mention she cried :-(  I rushed in and saved her.  She tee-teed for a good minute.  She felt much better.  During her meltdown, she told one of her fabulous teachers, "My tummy hurts.  I want to go home."  Wow.  All of that came out of her mouth.  Wow!  WOW!!

- Bug slept in her bed ALL NIGHT last night.  Yes, she still gets in our bed on most nights.  I woke up with morning at 6:30am fully rested for the first time in a LONG time.  I kind of missed her.  Fingers crossed the same happens tonight.

- I have no pictures for today.  I have been doing 8 million things.  I mean, I just got done cooking dinner.  I haven't even cleaned the kitchen yet.  Ugh!

- One night I went to bed at 9:30ish.  That is epic.  I can't remember the last time that happened.

-I am watching Gossip Girl season 4.  Dear sweet baby Jesus.  I don't know how I ignored this show until its final season.  Chuck Bass is so awesome.  I wish I could be him for just one day.

- I am off to clean the kitchen, watch Big Brother, watch Gossip Girl, feed the dog, wash clothes, shower, fold clothes, ok I'll stop now.

Happy Birthday Ryan.

The past few days I've been rapping, "Day go my baby daddy..."

Only kidding.... maybe.

We celebrated Ryan's 29th birthday over the weekend.

Whoops.  Wrong picture.

We will just pretend this is my baby daddy with long curly hair.

Just kidding.  This is really him.

(wow.  major flash.)

I can't believe it.

I am married to an almost 30 year old.

Wow.

It isn't that old but it seems like yesterday my parents turned 30 and I was thinking, "damn that's old".  30 now seems so far from old.

29. The last year of my husband's twenties.

It's going to be a great year.

I can feel it.

Thank you for being the father of my children.

Thank you for being my best friend.

"Always remember, there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name"

I love you forever and always.

I can't wait to turn old and grey with you.

Zoey

Zoey is having a surgery today.

What a mess I have been.

She was so excited this morning hopping in the back of Ryan truck.  She thought she was going for a ride with her Daddy.

She even jumped OUT of the truck using the tool box to chase Oreo, the cat.

She had a great morning.  She was so happy.  Little did she know where she was going, much less what was about to happen.

Zoey is getting "fixed".

She has to stay overnight, which is the worst part.

When we go to the beach, we leave her here to protect the fortress.  My wonderful MIL and FIL come over to play with her and feed her for us.  My point in all this is that we are ok with leaving our dog.  We don't take her everywhere we go... although I wish we could.

It is just that leaving her at the cold, vet in a hard, silver cage all night makes me sad.

Ryan went by the vet.  She was out of surgery and did fine.

Now we wait.

She will be home tomorrow.

Until then, the birds, squirrels, turtles, and frogs are having a field day in our yard.  It is uncharted territory for them since Zoey likes to eat their kind.

Thank you to everyone that said a little prayer for her.
That is so thoughtful and sweet

Aye. It seems only yesterday she was cuttin' her teeth on Jim Dear's slippers.

Bug started school

Bug started school today.

It was nice to have my three hour "mommy time" back.

4 days a week, 3 hours a day.  Perfect.
I can get a lot accomplished in that time.

We prepared Bug for school.
We don't mention the word "cry" or "talk".
Today, she walked right in the classroom.
No tears.
I was amazed.

Even more amazing is the fact that her teacher asked her a question and she responded.
She actually uttered uh-uh.
What a big step!
It's going to be a great year!!

Labor Day Weekend

What a relaxing 4 day weekend!

I had my heart set on the beach but Ryan talked me out of it.

We couldn't get down there until later on Saturday and sometimes packing and rushing around with two children just isn't worth all the fuss.

To ease the pain of no beach, I drove a Volvo V70 this weekend.  My dream car no matter what year model it is.

I blew it up this morning (damnit) but I enjoyed it while it lasted.

I'm back in a minivan.  Different one this time.  Back to the white van... also known as the piss van due to the fact it smells of baby wipes and urine.

Emma almost threw up when she had to get in it tonight.

ANYWAY...

Ryan paddled a 17 mile trip that took him most of Sunday.

We had Mexican for dinner Sunday night.

We shopped today.

We had a late lunch/early dinner at Mellow Mushroom tonight.

It is our favorite ever.

Here is my life summed up in one little picture taken with a crappy Blackberry...

Emma has orientation tomorrow.

Caroline has PE (her favorite).

Ryan celebrates a birthday.

It is going to be a fabulous week.

I can feel it.

Even if I am driving the piss van.

Chin up, buttercup!  Things could be worse.

Funnies

We saw this bumper sticker recently.

It is that time that happens every four years where you see a million different bumper stickers.

It becomes second nature to read every sticker and then go on about your life.

Someone (who shall remain anonymous) said, "Who is Omney?"

"Who is Omney?"

In the defense of the someone who shall remain anonymous, the bumper sticker is poorly designed.

Someone who shall remain anonymous is fully aware of who Romney is.  However, the design of the "R" looks like a picture.

Someone who shall remain anonymous asked because they had never heard of an "Omney" before.

We all had a good chuckle because of this.

--------------------------------------------------

Spotlight on my funnies for a sec...

Ryan took me out to dinner at one of my most favorite restaurants ever.

I ordered a yummy drink and it came in a cool glass.

It looked similar to an absinthe glass.

"OMG!  I love this glass.  Don't you love it babe?  It looks like an abstinence glass."

"It's ab-sinthe," he said.

I'm pretty sure absinthe does not lead to abstinence.  Ha!

Whatev.

Same difference.  I felt like an idiot.  I am glad Ryan is the only person that heard me.

--------------------------------------------------

From the mouth of one of my babes...

"It's hot as a mother!"

I need to watch my phrases.

Obviously.
